"Live Nativity"

December 7,8, 9

2007

6:30-8:30 p.m.

Christmas is a glorious time for most people.  At First Christian Church we take great joy in celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  One of the activities that we take great pleasure in is our annual "Live Nativity".  The "Live Nativity" is setup as a drive through with several different exhibits, using live actors and animals.

This past Christmas it was held over 3 nights using more than 60 different actors and live animals.  The event is open to the public and we encourage all to come and enjoy.  The following pictures are just an example of what was offered.  (Click on any picture to enlarge.)

“Build it and they will come.”

Did you ever see the movie, “Field of Dreams”?   They built a ball field and people came.  We built scenes for our Live Nativity and the people came.  And more people came. And more people came.  We had 1,527 cars to drive through our Live Nativity.  If each car had 3 people in it, that would be 4,581 people who saw the five scenes of our Nativity.   But many cars had more and we even had Church vans filled to come through.  We had cold chills, but not from the weather.  They were chills of joy to look out and see “King Hillier” and a city policeman directing the traffic.  Car lights could be seen as far as the eyes could view.  What a wonderful sight to see so many people wanting to experience the true feeling of Christmas. Wanting to be reminded of the “Reason for the Season”.   Wanting to share with their family and friends the birth of our Lord.  Two thousand years ago “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear”, and we give God the glory for a wonderful weekend, our gift to the community of Cookeville.
